Today’s news is quite “attractive”, as it involves our country’s top university.
University Sains Malaya was categorized as the APEX University, which means the country’s top university with great potential to improve and develop, in terms of world ranking, the facilities provided, and the researches that have been carried out.
The day before yesterday, most of my friends who have applied for the university gladly informed me that they gained the acceptance into the university. Majority of them got their first choices. They were jubilating together after knowing the news. I congratulated them.
Just as what happened in Perak state’s administrative system, where the chief minister of the state was changed within a day when the decision of the High Court was being toppled. The same situation occurred.
Out of sudden, all the letter of acceptance was retreated. This also occurred with a day. I wonder why our government likes to play a fool with us, the people.
Be responsible over something which you had caused. That is the most fundamental lesson I’d learnt since I was in primary school. You reap what you sow.
Disappointment and furiousness of the students hang around the air, and I think, this blunder made should cause the officers of MOE perspiring now. Ministers of MOE are trying hard to write their own scripts to prepare for the press conference, more importantly, for the students and the people. I feel that they could never persuade the students and the parents. This is a severe mistake!
The good name and image of local universities have surely spoilt, and the standard of our universities is questionable and full of doubts. Based on qualification or something else? I don’t know.
The poor, inefficient and the likes of “playing fool around” result in the weakening of confidence of students towards our local universities. It is the main factor of brain drain, I guess.
If this scenario keeps on and on, I do not dare to imagine my dear “Malaysia” in the next decades.
