Criminal rate has been escalating all the while, with robberies and kidnapping cases top the list of it.
Those are the ubiquitous one. This afternoon, an article in “The Star” caught my attention. It was all about human trafficking.
The article indicates that brothels in Singapore are legal, and sex workers can wait for their “clients” on a street in Geylang publicly.
A worker was interviewed and she revealed that her record was 17 men per night and some of her friends were even “fantastic”, with more than 30 men per night. But they were forced by their pimps to do so in order to pay their travelling fees. Most of them are Thai and Philippines. I was stupefied by the revelation.
Due to the current global economic crunch, mankinds are too obsessed in searching for more money to improve their living standards. They will try whatever ways, either good or bad, as long as the way will bring them wealthy. In fact, human beings have lost the universal ethos that have been inculcated since they were young and should be possessed by every one of us.
Hopefully, all the governments in the world will go all out to fight against this unhealthy phenomenon. Remember, we are currently living in a civilized world. It might be a social menace if this group is getting bigger in the next future. We have to protect our young generations to ensure that they are free from the negative influences.
Never ever over look on this matter, because for one of the nails, the war is lost.
Shame on you, wilson. If you have read a thorough interviews, you will understand that they are not doing this based on their voluntary wills. They are FORCED to do so by their pimps. It is kind of sad to know that such human exist. There is an interview with one of the prostitute in one of the magazines before. They work as a prostitutes because they are really desperate. Do you think anyone will be so willing to work if they have a choice.
ReplyDeleteSome might say there is always a choice, but not all people have such fortune in life. Also,no matter what kind of economic times, there is always prostitution. Don't tell me that during boom economic times, there is not prostitution.
The reason the government of SIngapore is very lax on this issue is beacuse they are trying to woo the foreign countries to visit their countries. True enough, they are lots of foreigners there, aren't there. Well, even if you eradicate all of it,there will still exist at other places.

ReplyDeleteTo protect the younger generation is not totally the job of the government,it shall be the parents responsibilities...They are the ones who bring them to this world and they are the ones should teach them what is right and what is wrong. Most government will not go out just to fight for this issue,it is not only happening in that country, this occurs everywhere.Government will try to curb proverty, improve the country, they wont really focus on this,if there is less proverty, such cases will be lesser. If you think this a big problem, how about AIDS?
ReplyDeleteif you think AIDS is a big prob, what about bird flu? hahaha, rilek...wah cheeseng writes long comments huh=)
ReplyDeleteWell, what's the best way to combat this problem? Parents? But if it is as what chee seng said that they are forced to do so due to financial crisis, what is to do with their parents? And the pimps are also one of the main factors of this problem.Dear viewers, what do you all think?
ReplyDeleteI think parents have little influence here. You see, most prostitutes are foreigners, they are cheated by these so called employers who promised them high salary which they have no prior knowledge about would be these jobs. Hence, the pimps should be punished severely. But the weird thing is why the government is so relax on this rule. Could be that they secretly hoping this problem is never mentioned?
ReplyDeleteIf they want to do something, sure they can. Why dun just legalise this profesion. You know in holland,it is legalised. And the prostitutes use protective measures(rule) and they are not underpay. It will be crazy and total havoc if implemented in Malaysia anyway.....
err..parents not really responsible but how about the "bapa ayam" and 'ibu ayam'?If parents educate the child well, they wont involved in such jobs...Some parents are irresponsible too..in some cases, some parents sell their daughters to those people in order to pay their debts....and if there is no demand, there will not be so many prostitutes...parents should teach their children to have moral values and not to find prostitutes...Next, people become prostitutes like chee seng said,is due to financial problem, some prefer to take this job as they earn "fast money"... if they urgently need money, where can they get them?If rules is implemented, i dont think it will be able to "chase away" all the prostitutes as we Malaysians always break the rules,haha....
ReplyDeleteFrom chern yik.."..people become prostitutes like chee seng.."..wa..say chee seng like that..jia lat le you..hahaha..may be he wanna conquer the australia market..LOL..
ReplyDeletewei, you dun luan lai. simply quote ppl. halfway some more... why i need to conquer the market leh? it is mine already what....
